We are all grieving the loss of this beautiful angel on earth. When I first heard that she had passed, I immediately thought of her love for butterflies and how she now had angel wings. First a quick sketch, then a watercolor version followed by some digital editing (I am not a portrait artist), and Saint Dolly of Rhinestones and Rainbows was born.
I’ve never been one to get swept up in pop culture or the loss of a celebrity, but Dolly was different. She embodied so much love, kindness, generosity, and sparkle. It is a comment on her goodness how everyone talks about what an amazing person she was, as opposed to all of her entertainment successes (though those are vast and varied as well!).
