Each spring, the East Buntyn ArtWalk celebrates local artists and musicians with an amazing open-air bazaar of galleries set up in the front yards and porches of the historic east Memphis neighborhood. With the slogan “Outdoor Galleries, Outright Cool,” the ArtWalk showcases the talents of neighborhood residents as well as artists from around Memphis and the Mid-South. Works include a wide range of media, including watercolors, oil, photography, pottery, textiles, woodworking, jewelry, and stained glass. This unique arts fair offers visitors the opportunity to visit and engage with local artists while enjoying the hospitality of East Buntyn residents.
The 10th Anniversary East Buntyn ArtWalk is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2019 (rain date April 28), from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Admission is free, and the event is child and pet friendly!
Visitors can stop by the hub at St. James Anglican Church, 461 S. Prescott, in the center of the neighborhood, which is near the University of Memphis and bordered by Central and Southern Avenues and Highland and Greer Streets. At the hub, pick up a free map to locate your favorite artists and discover new ones, meet a few neighbors, and enjoy continuous live entertainment by Memphis musicians. The headquarters will also host a silent auction tent featuring special items from our artists, and local food trucks offering refreshments.
Art will be available for purchase from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Music will begin at the same time at St. James Church and will continue until 4:30 p.m.
The East Buntyn ArtWalk was created with three missions in mind: 1) to help local artists market their work, 2) to show off the East Buntyn neighborhood and its diverse and vital people, and 3) to provide an opportunity for East Buntyn neighbors to get better acquainted through collaboration, art, music, and food. We hope you will join us in 2019 for more “Outdoor Galleries, Outright Cool” in one of the city’s friendliest neighborhoods!
