We are all grieving the loss of this beautiful angel on earth. When I first heard that she had passed, I immediately thought of her love for butterflies and how she now had angel wings. First a quick sketch, then a watercolor version followed by some digital editing (I am not a portrait artist), and Saint Dolly of Rhinestones and Rainbows was born.
I’ve never been one to get swept up in pop culture or the loss of a celebrity, but Dolly was different. She embodied so much love, kindness, generosity, and sparkle. It is a comment on her goodness how everyone talks about what an amazing person she was, as opposed to all of her entertainment successes (though those are vast and varied as well!).
Originally painted with watercolor on paper and enhanced digitally, this image is printed on a full-color floursack towel, richly printed on 100% cotton and is 27” by 27”. These are very soft and can be used for burp cloths as well. These wash well and are very absorbent.
